There's something for everyone in this book. I bought it 5 years ago and just read it last month on the plane flying to london, I almost finished it on the way back. Frankly speaking, when I bought it I was under the impression that it is a teaching formula that rich dads use to raise their kids in a certain business-mentality. I was anxious to know what the rich teaches their hiers.
In general, this is a good easy to read book for non-business people who never figure out what cash flows and income statements mean. It really makes these 2 most important financial statements Comprehendible. A plus point for Kiyosaki.
The best thing about Robert Kiyosaki is that he's talking from experience which makes it more plausible. Although I was expecting to see some examples on his financial stumbling stones and how he handled them. I personally found the approach very smart and easy to read. If the title was "Rich man and Poor man" I wouldn't have bought it, so basically I read it for my children and it truly inspired me on how I should raise them to think "BIG" rather than leave them dwelling on the "rat race trap".
I read alot of criticisim on this book. Harsh criticism! I agree that every book has its good and bad sides. For me, the main +ve as follows:
- Good to remember that real estate is still the best investment tool. "Earth would never stretch or get bigger so there will always be a growing demand on real estate"
- Parents need to be more creative in teaching their children how to be financially succesfull rather than sticking to the cliche: "Study hard and get a good job and kill yourself working for money".
- The rat race "trap" is common among middle class. GET OUT OF IT. This book tells you what's your problem but you have to figure out the rest.
The main -ve:
- TOO RISKY! Kiyosaki encourages going BOLD in your investments. Well, if I'm 22 yrs old bachelor and waiting for a multi-million dollars legacy to inherit then MAYBE yes!
- Schools are good. They're not all that bad. Yes it sure does have a lot of unnecessary BS but afterall, we all learn something.
You have to read it if you reached this point of reading about it!
Rating: 7.5/10 (good for a hard-to-please reader)
